Round Table
Facility Managers and Planners rely heavily on drawings, construction documents, and reports to make informed decisions about the future of their buildings. Although technology has presented us with a myriad of solutions to organize this valuable data and make accessibility simple and instantaneous, many, if not most, large facility operations still rely on antiquated systems.
If you have any questions about this seminar or about issues surrounding the reliability, access, and use of facilities information, particularly from a technology based and “Drawing-centric” perspective please contact us. We all share a common concern for protecting information that could be lost or damaged, information that is not in the hands of those that need it the most, and information that could benefit all of those that will inherit the responsibility for “our” buildings.
Speaker Presentations were:
"Carbon & Energy Management - What does it mean for facilities management?" Mile Corrigan, Manager, Noblis' Center for Sustainability
Today, both government and businesses are becoming more and more cognizant of the impact their organizations are having on sustainability due to their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The driver may be compliance with Executive Order 13514 or part of their corporate sustainable strategy; everybody is looking at carbon management and ways to implement energy efficient strategies and cost-effective solutions. What are government and businesses doing today? Mrs. Corrigan will provide a live demonstration of a robust tool that is being used to assist in implementing and forecasting cost-effective and energy-efficient strategies to lower the GHG emissions.
Noblis is a nonprofit science, technology and strategy organization, helping clients solve some of their toughest challenges in healthcare, national security, enterprise transformation, transportation, AND sustainability. Learn more about Noblis at www.noblis.org.
"Facilities Management - Why a Drawing-Centric Approach" Anupam Sachdev, CEO, Indus Systems Inc.
Mr. Sachdev will present a basic overview of developing a space-centric facilities management system that integrates various facilities management functions. The implementation approach is based on the iDrawings® technology platform developed by Indus Systems. It allows coupling of various facility drawings and data to create web-based facility management solutions that are easily shared across the enterprise.
"Energy Management- Measurement, Analysis and Control" Cameron Carey, CEO Sustainable Energy
Mr. Carey will explore the challenges of building energy management. The basic problem is the difficulty of assigning consumption to the various energy consuming components within the building. Once the consumption pattern is identified then detailed analysis provides the profile for management strategies, operating load efficiencies, and efficiency investment opportunities. A brief Energy Module demo will show the ease of collecting energy consumption information, visualizing the energy use, and identifying business operations and equipment investment strategies.
